MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin is headed to Mount Vernon to talk about unemployment.
Illinois' senior senator will be at the One Stop Business and Employment Center on Friday meeting with unemployment workers.
According to the state Department of Employment Security, the Illinois' unemployment rate was 10.5 percent in September - the highest it has been since 1983.
Durbin will be at the employment center talking to workers about the extension of federal unemployment benefits.
He heads to Decatur later in the day to talk to workers there.
