DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a Des Moines bicyclist in what police say was part of a game to target random victims.
Roberto Rodriguez was sentenced to life in prison after a Polk County jury convicted him of first-degree murder on Oct. 13.
A judge also sentenced him to 45 years in prison for robbery and burglary charges. The sentences will run back to back.
Rodriguez was 1 of 4 men charged in the July 2008 stabbing death of Dean Davis.
Police say Davis, who was attacked as he bicycled down a street, was chosen at random as part of a game.
The other three men charged in the case pleaded guilty to robbery, theft and willful injury in April. Each was sentenced to up to 35 years in prison.
