Mark Hendrickson was named Western Illinois head football coach on Wednesday following one of the worst seasons in program history.(WGEM) -- The talent level has dropped, and the team lost it's final ten games this season, but that didn't seem to sway Western Illinois athletic director Tim Van Alstine from making any drastic changes to the football program.

The long time assistant was named acting head coach after Don Patterson was dismissed during the Leathernecks bye week in late September.
