QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- Early voting in Quincy for the February primary begins January 11.
Adams County Clerk Georgia Volm says the ballots are programmed and ready to go and will soon be tested to prior to early voting. This will be the second election the county has programmed its own ballots. It's a move she says will save the county tens of thousands of dollars.
"The Health America Vote Act funds paid for the program to allow us to program our own ballots," said Volm. "We actually lay them out and program them. Within a one year cycle, I think I've estimated it will save the county between $35,000 and $50,000 a year."
There will be some changes for the upcoming election. The polling place at St. Peters Church will no longer exist. It's being replaced by additional locations at Quincy University and the Knights of Columbus.
