Quincy, IL (WGEM) -- You are probably noticing them more this week than you ever have before. Those red donation boxes on the side of the road. But that might be changing soon.
Mike Lockett, Store Manager commented, "I had no idea, I just thought it was for a good cause. so we put it in and apparently its not the best. So we are going to have it removed."
Mike Lockett thought he was doing a good deed by allowing U'SAgain officials set up a box here at Concord Custom Cleaners.
Lockett continued, "It seemed like a good cause, so I thought sure, its not going to take up much room. I've seen the other red boxes from around town. Seemed like it was going to be for a good cause."
But after finding out that the donated clothes do not stay here locally, Mike has decided the box needs to go. He feels that others should know where their donations are really going and to make sure other business owners are not caught off guard if they are approached by this company.
Lockett stated, "I'm sure most people really don't have any idea, I mean I still really don't have any idea, I just thought it was for a good cause."
As for what to do with all those clothes people want to donate. Mike has a good idea of where it should be taken. Lockett finished, "I think it would be a good idea if the salvation army would set up these boxes. From my own experience, it's always busy down there."
