A Quincy "Secret Santa" is helping out with grocery gift cards

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- Someone or some group in Quincy is playing "Secret Santa" at the Hy-Vee store on Harrison street.

The store director at the Harrison Hy-Vee store says a person who wants to remain anonymous purchased multiple $50 Hy-Vee gift cards and asked the store to give them out to people who looked like they needed the help.

The anonymous person told the store director that they're doing really well despite the bad economy and wanted to give back what he could to the community.

One woman who received a card says the gesture is simply unbelievable.

"That really helped because I was spending quite a bit of money, my grocery cart was full and he just made my day, made my holiday and I just wish him the best," Mary Clark, who received one of the gift cards, said.

Two other gift cards have already been given out and the store director says each gift has brought the person to tears.
