Sex offender arrested for watching child porn at Hannibal Public Library

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -- A registered sex offender is arrested for downloading child pornography on a Hannibal Public Library computer.

Hannibal police say after receiving a tip, plain clothes detectives went to the library and watched 44-year-old Gary Martin for about an hour.

During that time, they say he viewed and downloaded several images of what appeared to be compromising pictures of young children.

After a brief struggle, police arrested Martin and later searched his home where they seized several computer discs and video tapes.

Investigation in this case continues.

Martin was convicted of sodomy with a young Hannibal boy in 1989.
