Quincy man treated and released after accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound


QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- The Quincy Police Department says a man shot himself in the leg then called the police Tuesday night.

At 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the call of a shooting at 424 North 16th Street.

Officers found Brice Powers, 21, in the home with a non life-threatening gunshot wound to his right leg. Police recovered a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun inside the residence.

Police say the case is being investigated as an accidental or unintentional shooting. Powers was treated at Blessing Hospital and released.

The investigation has been turned over to the Adams County State's Attorney as a matter of routine review, officers say.
