CARTHAGE, Ill. (WGEM) -- In Carthage, seven Illini West seniors made their college intentions known on Wednesday.
Most notably Ser Whitaker, who was the lone Division I signee, he's headed to the Missouri track and field program as a decathlete.
And the Schumdlach brothers, Drake and Zane, signed on with the McKendree football program.
All three say it's time to put their focus on success at the next level.
"I'm really excited about going to Missouri," Whitaker said.
"There were a couple other colleges I could have chosen but Missouri made me feel like I was at home and they're really friendly people. I just decided to go with them."
The Schmudlach twins became Bearcats, but attending the same school wasn't exactly their foremost concern.
"I kind of wanted what's best for me, but actually it worked out best for both of us," Drake said.
"I think it makes us both comfortable going together. We'll see what we can do."
According to Zane, "It's going to be really difficult to play at the Division II level, it's going to be a lot different than high school. Basically I'm going to have to work hard all summer, lifting with my brothers, and running all the time."
Lindsay Beach will continue her cross country career at Carl Sandburg, Dayna Bundy is off to Iowa Wesleyan to play softball, Connor Rothert plans to tee it up at Lincoln College, and Brandon Gehle is headed to Culver-Stockton to play football.
