WASHINGTON, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa State Patrol says two teenagers have been injured in a rollover after a 14-year-old driver lost control of her pickup truck. Troopers say the one-vehicle wreck happened yesterday afternoon in Washington County. They say the vehicle rolled into a ditch where it landed upside down.
OELWEIN, Iowa (AP) - A northeast Iowa mayor accused of sexually abusing two girls has been released from jail. Jason Manus left the Fayette County Jail after a bail bonding company posted a reduced $65,000 bond. Manus is the mayor of Oelwein. He's accused of sexually abusing two girls in 2010.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - More people rode buses to reach the Iowa State Fair despite a dip in attendance. The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority says ridership between park-and-rides and the fairground was more than 221,000 during the 11-day fair. That an 8 percent increase over last year.
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) - U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is returning to Iowa to announce federal grants designed to encourage development of new value-added farm products. Vilsack will travel to a dairy operation in Ely in eastern Iowa and a food cooperative in Marshalltown. Money for the grants was increased in the 2014 Farm Bill.
