SAN DIEGO (AP) - Tyler Lyons pitched seven solid innings in his major league debut last night, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-3 victory over the San Diego Padres. Matt Holliday hit an RBI triple and Yadier Molina had four hits to help Lyons pick up his first career win. Padres starter Burch Smith was rocked for four runs and five hits in one inning of work.

HOUSTON (AP) - J.D. Martinez hit a two-run homer last night as the Houston Astros defeated the Kansas City Royals 3-1. Jordan Lyles improved to 2-1 on the year after allowing one run and six hits in his 50th career game. George Kottaras hit an RBI double for the Royals.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis Rams offensive lineman Rokevious Watkins has been suspended for the season opener for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. The Rams announced the suspension yesterday. Watkins played in one game last season before going on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent safeties Quintin Demps and Malcolm Bronson. The Chiefs announced the moves before the start of yesterday's voluntary workout. Kansas City also released safety Justin Green and cornerback James Rogers.
