SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Springfield author Adam K. Nelson wants to help parents struggling to introduce their children to Santa while keeping their focus on the story of the birth of Jesus.
His book, "A Night with St. Nick," was released this year and is available at bookstores.
The Springfield News-Leader reports that the book was inspired by their conversations with two parents who were relatively new Christians.
The couple had been raised on a secular Christmas tradition, and began to ask other Christians how they handled Santa.
The answers included completely ignoring the commercialized holiday.
Nelson decided there was a way for Santa and Jesus to co-exist and set to work writing. The main character in the book is a boy named Jimmy who learns the magical secrets of Santa and the significance of Jesus.
