JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - There is more time for the public to comment on a proposal to improve water quality in the Little Osage River study area near Nevada.
The state Department of Natural Resources has extended the public comment period for the proposed plan from Dec. 13 to Dec. 28.
The DNR says the Little Osage River in Vernon County does not meet water quality standards because of low dissolved oxygen levels in the river, which is now included on the state's list of impaired waters.
The DNR says public participation is crucial for successful watershed management. Comments should be sent to the Department of Natural Resources office in Jefferson City.
