Quincy Community Theater director resigns

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- There's something missing today in the local fine arts: the passionate leader of the Quincy Community Theatre is leaving.

Managing and Artistic Director Dominic Cattero has accepted a position to design and open a community theatre in the western suburbs of Chicago.

Cattero says the decision was painstaking because he loves Quincy and the outpouring of support they've had for the community theatre over the years.

He says he'll always remember the connections he and his cast had with the audience.

"It's an incredible feeling to hear laughter for a show you've directed or to hear someone sniffle or cry to a sad moment on stage, or to hear great applause and a standing ovation at the conclusion of a show. It's truly an incredible experience that lifts you beyond belief and I'll cherish each and every one of those moments," said Cattero.

The Quincy Community Theatre is now on a nationwide search to find a replacement for Cattero.
