FT. MADISON, Ia. (WGEM) -- Fort Madison is moving forward with plans to build a new multi-million dollar school.
According to the Fort Madison Daily Democrat, the school board approved the $19 million school for the district's fourth to eighth grade students.
The new facility will be built at 48th Street and Bluff Road on 98 acres of land.
School officials say the growing safety concerns and inadequacies at two other school buildings prompted the move for the new school construction.
Denmark Elementary School and Fort Madison Middle School will be closed after the new facility is opened.
