POWE, Mo. (AP) - The search continues for a southeast Missouri woman who was washed away in a ditch the day before Christmas as heavy rains showered the region.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the woman hydroplanned into a ditch Thursday morning on Route U west of the town of Powe.
Sgt. Jody Laramore told the Southeast Missourian that witnesses saw her in the water and tried to assist her.
He said authorities are not identifying the woman.
High waters made searching difficult on Christmas Day. After returning Saturday, crews used divers and dragging techniques but were unsuccessful.
Crews plan to broaden the search Sunday.
