Coaches hired for women's football championship

NEW YORK (AP) - John Konecki has been hired as head coach of the U.S. women's team for this summer's first world championships in Sweden.

Konecki, a native of Evergreen Park, Ill., is an accomplished coach in the sport on the professional and high school level. He's the head coach of the Independent Women's Football League team in Chicago.

USA Football's national team will be part of a six-nation field in Stockholm from June 27-July 3. The Americans are the top-seeded team, followed by Canada, Germany, Austria, Finland and Sweden.
