Fatal Fire in Newark, Family Asks for Help

An early morning fire in Newark Missouri has taken one man's life and completely destroyed a home.

38-year old Pete Benner died in the fire while his was able to escape. 
Crews from Newark, Labelle, Lewistown, Shelbyville, and Knox City arrived at the scene shortly after 1:00 A.M. 

Newark fire chief Dennis Brookhart says the home was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. 

Funeral services for Benner are scheduled for Wednesday at 10 at the Ball Davis Funeral home in Ewing.

The visitation is Tuesday beginning at 4.

The Benner family had no insurance and lost everything in the fire early Saturday morning.
