QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- Temperatures may be soaring outside, but some Quincy businesses are seeing some red hot sales.
Whether it's food, entertainment, or just a building with air conditioning, some businesses tend to thrive when it's simply too hot to be outside.
Going Bonkers may perfectly describe how some parents feel trying to keep their kids entertained when it's too hot to be outside.
"We wanted another place where they could get the sillies out and still be active at the same time," said Debbie Contino, a parent at Quincy's Going Bonkers.
Managers at Going Bonkers in Quincy say their facility has been busy lately and parents say they're just happy to have a place where their kids can run off some built up energy.
"Grandma and Grandpa really appreciate it getting them out of the house," Contino said.
But kids aren't the only one's going stir crazy. Managers at the Quincy Mall say traffic has picked up considerably, and some mall goers say they're doing more than just shopping.
"We just came here to walk and we couldn't get our daily walk in," said Barb Frericks who was getting a workout walking around the Quincy Mall.
But window shopping while working out does have some consequences.
"You get in too much window shopping and there's so many things your want to try on and everything you would like to buy," Frericks said.
At Quincy's TCBY, managers say their sales don't pick up until the sun goes down. And with such hot days lately, the evenings have been especially hectic.
"Yesterday in the day I had three people working, last night I had six so I pretty much had to double my staff at night," said Sheryl Scarbrough, Manager at TCBY.
And with much of the summer still left to go, managers say they're not expecting sales to dip anytime in the near future.
Some businesses actually offer special deals when the temperature rises high enough. Quincy Public Pools will reduce their admission prices to a dollar whenever a heat warning is issued for the area.
