QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM)-- The Washington Theatre is getting some much needed renovations thanks to the manpower of dozens of volunteers.
The theater commission hosted a work day to renovate portions of the building into office space that could generate money for the theater.
Officials say the building is in rough shape but with the proper work could attract some new business to downtown Quincy.
"Trying to get the space cleaned up and ready to go so if somebody came down here they wouldn't go Oh my gosh, there's no way we could be down here. If we can get all that cleaned up and get it presentable, we hope that we can find a tenant that would be interested in being down here," said Paul Denckla, a member of the Washington Theatre Board.
Coming up Monday Morning on WGEM News today, hear about the plans and hold-ups on renovating the rest of the theatre.
