Heart Gallery inspires families to adopt

CARTHAGE, Ill. (WGEM) -- This Christmas season many kids don't have a family to go home to.

More than 2,600 children in Illinois are waiting for adoption, but tonight one group hopes to inspire more people to consider it.

The Illinois Heart Gallery is currently on display at the First Baptist Church in Carthage.  It's sponsored by Christian Adoption Resources and Education for Hancock County.

Wednesday night visitors were able to look at pictures of some of the children in need of homes and learn about the adoption process.

"There is lots of things we could wish for for Christmas. And these kids, they want a family. They'd like to have a family for Christmas," said Pastor Don Winters with First Baptist Church.

The photos will be on display again Thursday starting at 4 p.m. as part of the Carthage Christmas Open House.
