HANNIBAL, MO (WGEM) -- Atomic bombs, cloning, and segregation are some of history's biggest topics that will be on display Saturday in a competition at Hannibal Middle School.
Similar to a science fair, students research specific historic events and create exhibits, web sites, and performances.
Students are then judged on how well they present their information. Teachers say they want kids to understand history isn't just facts and dates it's mainly experiences.
"This encourages students to look at history that way. And I think it helps them understand the world better. And it's also giving them a lot of valuable skills. Research skills, presentation skills, and also some plain old confidence that's going to help them through out their live," said Terry Trullinger, a Social Studies teacher.
The public invited to see the exhibits at the middle school from 2-3 p.m.
The Best in Show winners will compete at the regional competition in February.
