QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- College application deadlines are quickly approaching for many colleges and universities. But it's not too late to find the perfect school, or even begin the application process.
Some Universities like QU have no set deadline, while other schools have deadlines anywhere between February and May.
"It's been very hectic. You have to be very organized and have all your transcripts in one spot. Know your GPA. Know your ACT score," said Katelyn Genenbacher, a high school senior.
Genenbacher has spent the last several months filling out college applications and narrowing down where she wants to go.
"It's been stressful yeah but once you get in the flow of things it gets a lot easier," said Genenbacher.
Many colleges and universities have quickly approaching application deadlines, but if you act now there's still plenty of time to find the perfect school.
"Now is actually a wonderful time for them to focus in on exploring campuses, looking at college websites. Really discerning the type of school that they are most interested in," said Syndi Peck, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Quincy University.
At Quincy University, admissions counselors are working practically non-stop, answering phone calls and questions about the application process.
"We always encourage students to select 3-5 of their top schools, get those applications in. Visit campuses. Do some comparisons," said Peck.
Today most college applications are available online at the schools website, making it easier than ever to apply.
"You can complete it right then, submit it, and it goes directly to the admissions office," said Peck.
Genenbacher has her decision narrowed down to two schools, she's been accepted to both, her only challenge now is which one to choose.
"It's obviously a life-changing decision. But I think wherever you pick, you're gonna know it's the right choice as soon as you get there."
College Admissions Counselors say now is also a crucial time to get your families finances in order so your children can get the most scholarship and grant money possible. Everyone attending college should fill out the FAFSA form as soon as possible to ensure you receive the maximum financial assistance available.
