HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) --Creativity in the kitchen was the name of the game Thursday night for a few local chefs.
It was the 6th annual Iron Chef Competition at Hannibal LaGrange University.
Five teams made up of faculty, staff and students all competed.
They had to cook an appetizer, a main course and a dessert in just an hour.
But five minutes before they started, they were given a secret ingredient that had to be featured in each dish, it was pineapple.
"The most interesting thing is the creativity people come up with, salsas, kebabs, how creative they can be when they are making these great dishes," said Student Activities Director, at HLGU, Margaret Street.
WGEM's Chief Meteorologist Rich Cain was one of three judges.
He says the winners were judged in 15 different categories including taste, appearance and presentation.
"Spicy Mamas" took home top prize.
