QUINCY, IL (WGEM) -- Right now home improvement stores are gearing up for one of their busiest times of the year.. Spring.
Lowes and Home Depot, plan to hire more than 100,000 seasonal employees nationwide this year. Quincy stores are following suit by hiring handfuls of temporary workers.
If you're looking for work, this could be your chance. Lowe's Assistant Store Manager, Rich Ellerman says the store is hiring between 20-30 seasonal employees.
The store is doing most of its hiring within the next 2 weeks. The majority of the seasonal positions are part-time, but there are a few full-time spots available.
And, it's not just the store's garden center that needs the help, Ellerman says in the warmer months, traffic picks up throughout the entire store.
"People doing projects, so our paint department picks up a little bit, our plumbing and electrical department picks up a little bit, a lot of lighting and things. We pick up mostly in our garden center. Our garden center with our plants and our block, fencing and that kind of thing. So, we take care of all aspects," says Ellerman.
Store managers say they're looking for employees that are willing to learn and are comfortable lifting and talking to customers.
If you're interested you can drop by the stores or apply online.
