An Illinois program that could get residents money now has a new name.
The Cash Dash program, run through Illinois Treasurer's Unclaimed Property Division is now known as Icash. The program connects people in Illinois with unclaimed property, which could be anything from safe deposit box items to money from an old bank account.
Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford says that anyone in Illinois could have money stored away and may not know it. "This is $20 million that's right here with addresses in Winnebago County. I strongly encourage you check your name, a family's member's name, a deceased member's name," he said.
The online database recently had additional names added to it from 1976 to 1992, so if you've checked in the past, Rutherford is asking that you check again.
