Pike County man dies after falling into Mississippi River

PIKE STATION, Ill. (WGEM) -- A southern Pike County man died Saturday night after falling into the Mississippi River.

The Pike County Sheriff's Department reports that Robert E. Fowler, 54, of Rockport, died after being pulled out the Mississippi River. Sheriff's deputies responded to Two Rivers Marina after a call at 10:35 p.m. that a subject had fallen off a dock and into the river.

Fowler was found and transported to Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana, Missouri, where he was later pronounced dead.

Pike County Missouri Ambulance Service, Pike County Missouri River Rescue, Louisiana Missouri Fire Department, Pike County Illinois Ambulance Service, Pike County Emergency Corps and the Pleasant Hill Fire Department all responded to the call.
