There's an empty lot on the 600 block of Lind Street, and Habitat for Humanity is looking for a family interested in helping them build a new home there.
Lee Lindsay Curtis with Habitat says it's been over a year since they last dedicated a home. She says the lot is available, and the volunteers are ready, but they do not have a family yet.
She says they have had plenty of applicants, but no one has qualified yet. She says this is for a variety of reasons - maybe they could not afford the mortgage, they did not meet the 40-hour work week requirement, or they simply did not want to put in the "sweat equity" - or the two hundred hours family members have to put in to receive the home.
Curtis says if you are interested in applying for the Habitat home, to call (217) 223-4224.
