Over 200 students take part in JWCC livestock judging invitational

PERRY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Over 200 students from 20 area high schools took part Friday in the John Wood Community College Ag Alumni Association Livestock Judging Invitational near Perry.

Students from Illinois and Missouri schools got to judge nine classes of animals, including cattle, pigs and sheep. ADM Alliance Nutrition also had experts on site to help students learn about careers in agriculture.

JWCC officials say that livestock judging competitions allow students an opportunity to strengthen skills in decision making and observation.
