The Adams County Health Department held a flu clinic at John Wood Community College Sunday afternoon.
Sharron Zimmerman is just one of many people to get their flu shot today. She says without it, the winter is tough to get through.
"Because if I don't have a flu shot, I'm sick all winter. I think they're very important," she said.
But Zimmerman is alright with coming into the drive through clinic because she said it's easy and convenient.
This is the seventh year the Adams County Health Department has hosted the drive through flu clinic, but it's the first time Marci Keller brought her son in to get the vaccine.
"The cost was a no brainer. It's much cheaper to get it done here as opposed to going to the doctor's office and getting an appointment and pay for the doctor's visit as well as the full price of the vaccination so this was a win win for us," said Keller.
And Keller says she thinks everyone should get a vaccine.
"So we're all in this same world together so I think it's extremely important for everyone to be vaccinated just to try and keep everybody safe for themselves as well as for others," she said.
Adams County Health Official Joanna Bunch says the clinic opened flu shots earlier this season to keep up with the virus.
"We're seeing that the flu vaccine is getting started earlier each year and it lasts even longer into the next year. Historically it would start in November and be done in February or March. Now we're seeing cases happen in September and then not ending until sometime in April," Bunch said.
And despite the flu lasting longer, one vaccine covers you for the entire flu season according to Bunch.
Bunch also says the Adams County Health Department will have flu clinics all week this week. The cost for a flu shot is $20. Click here to see the Adams County Health Department's flu clinic schedule .
