MoDOT surplus items from the Northeast District were auctioned off at the Hannibal District Complex located on Highway 61 South.
The department auctioned off everything from refrigerators and filing cabinets to lawn mowers.
Palmyra farmer Al Jones was at the auction looking for good deals on supplies.
"We're picking for supplies for the farm. Bolts, nuts and hydraulic hoses. Whatever they happen to have that we can use on the farm," said Al Jones.
MoDOT officials said if it wasn't for the auction, a lot of the stuff could have ended up in the dumpster.
"We first redistributed items that could be of purpose to other Mo-Dot organizations. And then we are just auctioning the surplus items to the general public," said Tanya Dauma, the General Services Specialist for the Northeast District of MoDOT.
As for the money raised officials at the department said the proceeds will be put to good use.
"The money will go back into our road fund. For purposing to hopefully build some more high ways or maintain what we currently have," said Dauma.
