Quincy Police and Firefighters moving classrooms

Quincy Police and Firefighters will soon be picking up their books and taking their classroom training elsewhere.

Outdoor training will still be done just outside Quincy University's North Campus, but officials are moving across the street for its classes.  Police Chief Rob Copley said it's a cost saving decision.

"The decision to get out of the current lease was made due to the fact that it was going to be costing us in the next few years to lease that classroom space versus what we may bring in with classes and it was just a monetary decision that we're better off getting out of the lease with North Campus and moving to a different facility," Copley said.

Chief Copley said he expects to move to the new location near 19th and Seminary Road sometime next year.
