Halloween Costumes for Pets Skyrocket

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- Halloween is just over a month away, and people are starting to stock up on costumes for themselves and their kids. But nationwide, the national Retail Federation says there's another member of the family that will be decking out - the family pet.

According to the Federation, pet owners will spend a record breaking three hundred seventy million dollars on pet costumes. That's up twenty percent from last year. At Pet Supplies Plus in Quincy employees say the costumes are already flying off the shelves. "I think the witch's one has been pretty popular right now, the witch and the devil one, I think - I'm not for sure, because they're all selling so fast - so we're doing good with that," says employee Mitch Brogdon.

Brogdon says they have seen a lot of unique costumes, but his favorite is a Native American dog costume.
