KAHOKA, Mo. (WGEM) -

A rural Kahoka woman faces 10 to 30 years in prison for neglecting her elderly mother.

Linda Gargus, 61, was convicted of elderly abuse by a Clark County jury, but was found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

Her mother 81-year-old Lorriane Gargus, was taken to a hospital in Feb. 2010 with open wounds from rats eating her flesh.

She died a few days later.

Authorities say while under Linda's care, her mother was living in a house with around 40 animals and fleas.

Gargus is set to be sentenced Nov. 6.
