Posted:

CHICAGO (AP) -- Police in Chicago found a lot of pot.

Officers say they discovered two football fields worth of marijuana growing on the city's South Side. Authorities say more than 1,000 cannabis plants were discovered during a helicopter operation Tuesday.

Chicago police say some of the plants are as tall as Christmas trees.

Officers plan to begin removing the plants Wednesday, but authorities say the operation could take a few days.
