Fallen Northeast Missouri firefighter to be honored at national memorial

(WGEM) -- A Northeast Missouri firefighter who died in action last year will be honored this weekend at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

Henry "Jay" Branscum, 32, suffered a fatal medical emergency while working at the scene of a house fire in Cairo, Missouri on Sept. 3, 2011.

His name will be added to the Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Maryland during a ceremony on Sunday.

The memorial contains the names of more than 3,500 firefighters who died in the line of duty.
