Hannibal Mayor Roy Hark says he will run for re-election next April, while former Hannibal City Councilman Lou Barta has announced he will challenge him.
Barta said in a release that his career in business management gives him the experience to help lead the city.
He says his top priorities as mayor would be economic growth, cleaning up the city, and improve living conditions.
Hark has served four terms as Hannibal mayor and says he will run for fifth.
Candidates can start filing for office in Hannibal on Dec. 11.
