Health officials say the average life expectancy of a truck driver is only 61 years old, while average life expectancy is 78 years old.
So two local organizations are teaming up to try and raise that number for truckers.
John Wood Community College and Blessing Hospital are putting on a truck driving career and health fair Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. that aims to teach prospective drivers good nutritional options and exercise habits while driving.
"Blessing has very generously donated people and equipment and resources in order to do complete health screenings, for drivers or potential drivers," Don Hess, JWCC Director of Transportation, said.
The screenings are free of charge. If you'd like to attend the fair, it will be held at Quincy Mack at 53rd and Broadway.
