Quincy firefighters are usually some of the first responders on the scene, but now with some new technology they'll be showing up even faster than before.
A new emergency alert system automatically sends out a phone call, a text and an e-mail to off-duty firefighters to alert them to come in.
This quick messaging system, is not only important in saving valuable time, but lives as well.
Chief Joe Henning says his team has already used the new system, most recently last Sunday's fire at 2nd and Oak.
