QUINCY, IL (WGEM) -- The QND Raiders found themselves down 1-0 in Saturday's 1A regional championship game to Springfield Lutheran deep into the second half.
"Stay the course, believe in yourself, believe in your teammates, believe in your ability to try to get back to state," Reis told WGEM sports following Saturday's win.
"That's what the guys did. They just kept playing and plugging away. We got that first goal, and I thought we played even better after we got the first goal."
The game changed quickly once the scoreboard showed a 1-1 tie.
"We needed that momentum, and when we had it, it was a huge shift and everybody wanted to score," said senior midfielder Taylor Reis.
"We came out and did what we needed to do in the second half. We knew we needed goals, so that's what we came out and did."
The Raiders are now poised to make another run back to the state tournament sitting just three wins away.
They'll waste little time in gearing up for with Hillsboro in Wednesday's sectional.
"I'm sure these guys are chomping at the bit to get back to the state championship, but they've got to realize that they have to go through the steps and win each individual match that they step up and play," Greg Reis expressed.
"Take every game one at a time, and just play all of them to the best of our ability, and show everybody what we can do," added senior midfielder Parker Reis.
"We're happy about this, but we've got to come to practice and work hard for the next game," said Taylor Reis.
"I'm sure it'll be a challenge just like this game, and we're going to have to prepare all week for it."
QND and Hillsboro will get underway on Wednesday at 4:00 PM in the 1A Effingham St. Anthony sectional semifinal match.
