Quincy Transit Building Put to New Use

The City of Quincy will now be working alongside John Wood Community College on a new classroom training facility.

Director of Administrative Services Gary Sparks says John Wood is providing twenty thousand dollars in cash and 450 hours worth of labor to help renovate the Quincy transit building on Seminary Road.

Once completed, it will be used as classroom space for city firefighters, police, and fire science classes at John Wood.

Sparks says the location makes a variety of fire training very easy. "It's very close, within a block away from our aerial training facility that we still have there north of north campus, so it makes it very nice and convenient for the training that's going to develop there," he said.

Sparks hopes the building finished in about six months.
