Thanks Dad: Quincy father surprises son with trip to NLCS

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (WGEM) -- Imagine sitting in school as a youngster going about your regular routine, when all of a sudden your dad walks in and gives you the surprise of your sports lifetime.

That's exactly what happened to nine year old Ian Frese of Quincy who's father Tom decided to pull him out of Baldwin School today for something extra special.

The father and son would be attending their first major league baseball playoff game together.

"It's fun. I didn't really get a chance to do this with my dad a lot," said Tom.

"So I get a chance to bring Ian down and kind of instill in him what it's like to come and have a good day at the park and get out of school early, it's kind of a good pass. Hopefully he'll enjoy it today"

Ian admits he wasn't the biggest Cardinal fan in the world, but a few trips to Busch Stadium have changed that in a hurry.

"I didn't really used to like them," said Ian.

"Ever since my dad started taking me down, I've always liked them."
