The Illinois Department of Transportation says it is making progress towards repairing the Florence Bridge.
IDOT spokesman Josh Kaufmann says bids are currently being secured for repair projects to fix the bridge, which has been closed since mid-June. One contract is to replace existing ropes, and the other to replace sheave wheels and trunnion axles.
IDOT is workings towards fixing the bridge by early spring 2013.
The Florence Bridge carries Illinois Highway 106/100 across the Illinois River between Pike and Scott counties.
