A public relations official from the Harris Corporation confirmed Thursday that a "global realignment within the company" did affect the Quincy location Thursday.
Workers from the Quincy location told WGEM News that as many as 15 workers were laid off from Harris Broadcast Communications Thursday. Corporate public relations officer Terri Black did confirm there were layoffs, but would not go into detail.
"I cannot confirm how many people this affected," Black said. "But, I can say that Quincy was affected by this realignment."
The news of layoffs comes just a few months after the corporation announced it was getting out of the broadcast business and that the broadcast division, including the Quincy location would be sold.
