The project to light Quincy's Bayview Bridge took another step forward at Quincy's City Council Monday night.
Aldermen unanimously voted to move forward working alongside the Illinois Department of Transportation.
IDOT is providing a 500-thousand dollar transportation grant for the bridge lighting.
But Mayor John Spring says there's still a lot to be done before the work can really begin.
"We have to work through all of the engineering design, work with the Illinois Department of Transportation, which we already met with them to get the work started, but we have to get the designs approved, we have to work with all of the various other departments - the Coast Guard, the Army Corps of Engineers," he says.
Mayor Spring says the city hopes to bid the project out this summer, and the goal is to have it completed by next October.
