Clark Co. woman sentenced to 10 years in prison for elderly abuse

KAHOKA, Mo. (WGEM) -

A rural Kahoka woman is sentenced to 10 years in prison for neglecting her elderly mother.

Linda Gargus, 61, was convicted of elderly abuse by a Clark County jury in September.

Her mother 81-year-old Lorraine Gargus, was taken to a hospital in February 2010 with open wounds from rats eating her flesh.

She died a few days later.

Authorities say while under Linda's care, her mother was living in a house with around 40 animals and fleas.
