Sprint purchase of US Cellular markets to not affect tri-state area

(WGEM) - Thousands of US Cellular customers will see their cell phone provider change in the coming months, but not if you live in the Tri-State area.

Sprint has agreed to buy several of US Cellular's midwest markets stretching from St. Louis to Chicago.

More than half a million customers will be affected, but US Cellular spokesperson Katie Frey says that it will not affect customers in the WGEM viewing area.
