Hannibal City Councilman Richard Draper resigns

The Hannibal City Council is now one member short.

The council accepted the resignation of Sixth Ward councilman Richard Draper during Tuesday night's meeting.

He was not present, but in his resignation letter, Draper said his full-time job duties were conflicting with city duties

If you're interested in filling the seat, the City Clerk's office will accept letters of intent until Nov. 26.

The council will then interview candidates and appoint a new councilman next month.

That person will hold the seat until the April 2014 municipal election.
