Construction along Highway 24 in West Quincy led to some traffic congestion earlier Thursday.
MoDOT crews blocked one lane of traffic so they could repair the approach to the bridge over the railroad. Workers finished up leveling off the road around noon. MoDOT maintenance director Jody Geisendorfer said there would be consequences if they didn't do this right away.
Well it helps make for a better ride and it helps protect the bridge surface a little bit because if that approach settles and we don't raise it up, people will actually be hitting that concrete on the end of the bridge," said MoDOT Assistant Maintenance Supervisor Jody Geisendorfer.
Geisendorfer said they'll have to come back to the bridge to do more work in about a week.
