Burlington Home Sustains Major Fire Damage

Burlington fire fighters battled a major house fire early Sunday morning.

According to Fire Marshal Mark Crooks, firefighters were called to the home at 523 South Marshall Street. Upon arrival, they found a 2-story wood frame house with heavy fire coming out the back. He says smoke was visible several blocks to the north.

Crooks says the house is owned by John Gayewski, and it is vacant. It is considered a total loss. The house's estimated loss is nearly $40,000.

No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
